For Martin Luther King Day, Some Sweet Sweet Capital Region Schadenfreude Bitches
Today is Martin Luther King Day, and I traditionally take a moment on this important day to reflect on Dr. King’s words and legacy, and to marvel at the many different ways today’s brothers and sisters find to squander everything the Civil Rights generation accomplished.
Case in point…
The TU is running a story out of Troy, wherein a 15-year-old girl carrying a baby was struck by a car while crossing an intersection against the light.
Tragic you say? Well, yeah maybe not so much actually.
As I have mentioned here many, many times before, in this neck of the woods you constantly see people, especially African-Americans, aggressively crossing local streets with a complete disregard for traffic control devices or their own safety. They march out in front of oncoming cars, against traffic lights and signs and such, in what are clearly blatant displays of defiance against what they doubtless view as a hostile society.
Ignoring the traffic light and walking across the street whenever you fucking feel like it and forcing everyone else to wait while YOU saunter on by is a great way to stick it to the man, and it’s not like I blame them for wanting to do it really. These folks are taking advantage of what is likely one of the few instances in their lives where they feel empowered and in a position of control and even dominance, and who can begrudge them that?
But holy fuck do I get mad when they sashay out into oncoming traffic WHILE CARRYING BABIES OR PUSHING STROLLERS.
Seriously, you see that shit here ALL THE TIME.
It’s almost always young, black women with babies who just walk right out in front of you while you’re driving down the street, as if they were carrying a fucking bag of laundry NOT THEIR CHILD IN THEIR ARMS.
No, that’s not me being racist, it’s quite simply the truth. Ask anyone who drives the local streets with any regularity, it happens here ALL THE TIME.
Now look, before you get all PC and righteously indignant on me, know this. Nobody has more sympathy for the plight of the urban poor than me. I’M ONE OF THEM. But, that being said, when one of those crazy bitches carrying a baby disregards the light and marches out into traffic and expects everyone to come to a screeching halt to let her pass like she’s fucking Queen Victoria AND GETS HER BLACK ASS RUN OVER FOR HER TROUBLE, I have but one thing to say.
THAT’S SOME SWEET SWEET CAPITAL REGION SCHADENFREUDE BITCH.
I should add that according to the paper neither girl nor baby were seriously injured.
But the best part of the story?
The driver of the car that struck her was NOT charged nor ticketed.
Justice.
I am by no means an MLK scholar, but I have a funny feeling that Martin Luther King did not want young African-American women to empower themselves by walking out into traffic pushing baby strollers. Get A fucking clue bitches.
